Perfect Strangers

They were perfect strangers... she was working on her computer... she heard the door open and glanced up... they locked eyes for only a second... in that second an eternity passed... timed ceased to exist... the clock stopped...

She looked into his deep dark brown eyes... thoughts invaded her mind... she could see the future... she could see all that is to come... all that was... she could see the stars... the galaxies... she stared down a black hole, and came out the other side... her lip quivered into a smile...

In that one second... she saw him... on their wedding day... having their first baby... having a second... and a third... watching him play with them... teach them how to ride a bike... drive... birthdays... sweet 16's... teaching them to drive... walking them down the isle.. asking for hands in marriage... growing old together... watching as each wrinkle carved his face, and only made him look more and more distinguished...

Her mind started swimming with the thought of every kiss... every touch... every caress... every embrace... it was as if she could feel his soft lips... his firm yet soft hands... her soft hands touching his... his hands running through her hair...

She saw infinity in them... she saw every photograph... they would take... every smile that would cross her lips... heard every "i love you".... felt every breath he would take... tasted every meal... every sensation was felt...

She looked into his eyes and knew that he would love her and cherish her no matter what... she saw the love in his eye... the love he had to give... she saw his soul...

For a second nothing else or anyone else was in the room... in space... in time... a whole lifetime passed in that second... it was as if they were dancing to one rhythm... breathing to one breath... they dance around the timeless dance... it was only them and nothing else... nothing around... near... behind... up... or down... it was only them in the moment and that was it...

She stared into his dark brown eyes...

He walked away with her hazel eyes seared into his memory...

All in one second...
